Howdy folks!

As your most entrusted tropical disco movement, we encourage and welcome your participation in our doings. Get personally involved via facebook and soundcloud. We expect to fulfill your every crack/fix/need, and hope you find enough favor to support our artists. We give a lot of music away for free, and when we don't, it's for the petty price of a dollar. You can't even get a donut for that these days! So the next time you're at the ripper joint, think about your loyal crusaders before splashing a stack of $1 bills in the air ;)

everybody’s still sailing

Hey everybody my name’s Nafie!  I’m the newest addition to FE and this is my very first post.  Doing my best for all you readers to keep it hot, new and express.

Yacht rock, and music that sounds all ‘yachty’ is all the rage these days… maybe we’re going a little away from what we usually post up in here but this shit really does deserves some attention.

So sometime starting in like 2005 a series of comedy shorts were started simply called “Yacht Rock”. The shorts parody how super smooth southern Cali musicians crafted some of their greatest soft rock hits in the late 1970s and early 80′s, pouring heavy emphasis on how over bred their sound really was (Toto, Hall and Oats, Christopher Cross etc.).  Super funny, these shorts coined the term ‘yacht rock’. Now I suspect if you’ve been living on the moon in a cave for some time you’ve never seen them… Basically everyone knows and loves the videos, and I believe this has triggered some kind weird revival. Almost 30 years later, this sound is really taking off again in all new directions. The term ‘Yacht’ is becoming  more of a genre now than some douche-bag’s boat.

this kind of music has been called Cosmic Disco or Space Disco because of its relation to old Italo combined with that Deep House vibe…

Yes, we know. We feel all the tracks listed fit the bill, but to better specify tracks sounding the most ‘yacht’ to us are ‘Lovelock – Burning Feeling’ which sounds like its entering some stormy water. His Myspace page’s influences reads: ‘The Cuervo Gold, the fine Columbian’ what do you think that is referring too? Another project Steve Moore’s doing is called ‘Zombi’. Its very Italo, but also retains a yacht sound. Listen to ‘Zombi – Sapphire’.
Also Damn Arms has been referring to their sound as ‘yacht house’, we think you can hear it in ‘Destination’s flute and overall feel.

That Lovelock track reminds me of Phil Collins.
    I like it!
