many a time, we build short mental tags for tracks, often by artist or title. i personally happen to only tag the fav artist in the equation (e.g. armistice, RAC remix). hate love to say it, and please don’t pitchfork me, but in contrast to such a golden remix, easily forgettable are the original’s pitchy vocals. blasphemy you shout#%!! well, i guess i’m just over phoenix for now… until they do a disney blockbuster soundtrack – then i’ll totally be over them.

this RAC production is going to contend for my favorite spring timer of 2011, and maybe onward, as it’s glossed with enough SPF to withstand the coming summer releases. go ahead and tell them wuh suh on facebook, and don’t forget to share!

paying tribute to an iconic french house movement isn’t easy, no matter how late this post may come. an all glittery review was written out and ready to post months ago but unfortunately lost in a browser crash. lesson learnt, going to keep the posts shorter from here on in to put out more jammies. now allow me to share with you two tunes that got me into modern french house around ’05 (yes, even if there is no disco loop present, these two are still considered french house).

mysterious vybes is the bonus track off of matt’s “funk theory” ep. if there ever were a theme for nightdriving in a vintage porsche under a full moon in miami, this is it. kiss and tell is more upbeat and provides snappy funk in the classic definition of french house.  i happen to really love the way miguel drops out the kick at unexpected times in this one. make sure to provide adequate love

instead of trying to tell you how awesome prick stick is, being rather short and sweet, and much of the quintessential french touch delicacy dipped in honeycombed funk, combined with shards of brass, slices of fender bass licks, milliseconds of motown-era teena marie, and all the other ingredients used to craft a masterful sandwich of disco house excellence, jettisoned from the very spacecraft of genre-reigning kings, daft punk themselves, i’ll just let you listen to it instead!

a technicolored skunk meets a disco trained monk, that’s peppe le funk. paul nichol & ridney (pictured above) started the project around 2005, made a couple of successful tracks on limited vinyl runs, and then split into individual paths.

ridney bumped into jaymo & andy george on a recent ibiza escapade, and passed them a copy of ‘floor n order’. of course you can tell where this story is going, so if you’d like to hear what the radio 1 boys had to say about the track click here.

now usually i’m not a siren-in-a-song guy but the wailing sirens in ‘floor n order’ remind me of daft punk’s ‘revolution 909′ gone wild. the tune departs this hypervisual feeling of a slamming underground party, somewhere in the bowels of chicago, on a dark and foggy night, painted by the city lights bleeding through the cold air.

This track has a very unique sound for his label’s catalogue. Whereas a lot of the earlier stuff had a more underground feel, “Casual Encounters” is super upbeat and bouncy.

These jackin beats and great filters with really cool vocal samples will get da party poppin off fa sho!

Let’s hope he puts out more tracks like this in the future.

I discovered allen today in my fakebeat inbox asking to remix soup for one. from that I was able to check out his tune ‘funk.’ allen walker is 19 year old egyptian filter funk lover producing out of austria, and producing with reason 2.5 (look at that). where I’m from the usual 19 year old prefers crunk hip hop yo. it’s good to see some younger people taking command in such a battered genre. french house? does that stuff even still exist? finding artists like this from time to time gives us some hope! friend allen walker up today
