not many artists tend to make good use of the portamento/pitch bend wheel these days. it’s a thing of the yesteryear, namely signature to the 80s funk era. slowly living its revival through funk’s homecoming, we can start to hear more artists use it in their basslines or lead elements. take a good listen to delirious, and you’ll deduce that claes is the master of pitchbend. as well as a polished, defined to the detail, bassline architect who unarguably always cakes his tunes with a rich layer of harmonic, melodic, somber but epic bells, synths and vocal shards. personal favorites and other notable remixes i can’t share on the blog but you need to youtube, are his dinka, flux capacitor, vinyl dharma, and kostas skretas remixes.
